About Hunter

Hunter is a year old hound mix. He is in need of an active family who has space for him to run around, as he constantly has energy no matter how active he is during the day. Lately he has been jumping and catching his toys out of the air and jumping/doing tricks off an extra mattress I have leaning in my living room, he may be really good at agility and training courses with the right training. The best fit would be someone who knows dog training, patience, has firm boundaries and keeps a consistent schedule. I am not sure how is around kids, but since he jumps a lot and doesn't know how large he is I worry about him accidentally knocking someone small over. Every day he is growing and showing me his personality, but due to personal health problems I feel its best he has a more active home. He is loving and very goofy. When I first met Hunter he was very scared of everything, but now he no longer cowers in fear from strangers, dogs, or other animals. Around other dogs he barks and jumps around wanting to play, but is unable to be calm and play gentle as of right now, because of this he would do best around animals his size. Around cats he simply annoys them and traps them under the premise of wanting to play, recently he has been slightly less reactive around cats. He will need a patient human and a patient cat before he fully understands. Hunter has so much potential and will continue to learn; right now he has learned sit, wait (as in to eat or take a treat), shake, and lay down. We are working on jumping onto people��%BD��%BD%BD'��%BD��%BD%BD| some days he's good at this and others he gets too excited. He does get easily distracted, which is why patience is a must. Update: today Hunter was non reactive about a dog and was able to walk by a group of ducks without jumping around. Day to day is a bit different, but he does try so hard to grow.
