About Zuko

This classic red boy is Zuko, a 1.5 years old Australian Cattledog who weighs about 40 pounds. You can't see it in this photo, but he has a fantastic raccoon tail. Such a handsome boy! Zuko is a typical smartie. He knows: Sit, down, stop, stay, sleep, calm, down, roll over, high five, and paw. He is also house and crate trained, though he sometimes complains when he is in his crate. He really needs a home who can wear him out and also keep his busy mind occupied. Zuko responds really well to a solid leader, someone who gives him rules and doesn't baby him. Pushovers aren't a fit for this boy! Zuko is good with other dogs of all sizes and likes to play and run at the dog park. He also likes to play fetch (click on the red YouTube button to see him fetch). Zuko is good on leash. He can tend to pull sometimes. He likes to ride in the car and loves to look out the window. He is a good passenger when tethered in the backseat so he doesn't try to help you drive. Zuko is a standard Cattledog in public. He is fine at the dog park with people around. He is generally good with folks and also sensitive enough to pick up if someone has a different kind of energy. He did nip a neighbor who is afraid of dogs so was making barking sounds at Zuko. This made Zuko nervous and so Zuko nipped him when he was nearby. The other person he nipped was when he was a lot younger. His person was taking a toy away and Zuko mischievously nipped to keep the toy. In both instances he did scratch skin but did not leave any punctures and no stitches were needed. Due to this, Zuko will not be placed in a busy home or a home with kids. Zuko is an intuitive and intelligent dog who can also be headstrong. When he is happy he performs a roll over dance in a grassy lawn. He is definite best friend material for an active person or couple who knows what it means to be a leader for a dog. Zuko is neutered, microchipped, ans up to date on vaccinations. He is located in Berkeley, CA. Adopters must be able to meet and adopt here. We do not ship our dogs. A home visit and vet reference are required.
