About Max

German Shepherd mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

There's no place like home! But after being surrendered to a shelter, Max doesn't have a place of his own. Won't you put out the Welcome mat for him and be the fur-ever family who will never abandon him? Max is about 2 years old, weighs approx 50 pounds, and is located in Lawrence, MA. He didn't come with a DNA test, but Max is proud to strut his mutt-ness. Our best guess is a mix of shepherd with a breed that sports a brindle coat. Lineage is unimportant because what matters most is that Max is a really nice all-around family dog. Max is friendly but will relax more once he is around people who will make him a part of their lives. He has experience living with kids (we recommend 8+) and he gets along well with smaller dogs. He will hopefully be tested with larger dogs, so we'll share how that goes asap. Max needs some basic skills. We recommend a training course with his primary handler which is a great way to bond with a new dog. He would love to have the kind of dog life he's only heard about - waking up to find someone fixing his breakfast, going for walks, getting scratches and rubs, playing tug, chewing a Kong full of peanut butter, rolling in the grass, snoozing in a comfy dog bed, and being loved on. Max needs a family to care for him and love him in ways he's never had. He would be a sweet companion for someone who can help him with leash skills, bring him to training sessions, and give him outlets for his youthful curiosity and playfulness. At this time he has shown a dislike for care rides, but with slow acclimation, he may change his mind. ARK will review all applications and help Officer Ellen at the Lawrence pound find his soulmate. Please apply now so Max spends less time behind bars! https://tiny.cc/ARK-Application #ARKforMax #JustSaveThem
