About Zeus

Zeus! He is a 2 year old, 15.12 pound long haired Dachshund mix who was surrendered to us. Zeus is very sweet, but very timid at first. Until he knows you, he may grumble a warning if he feels threatened or crowded, but if you give him a couple of days to figure things out, he is just fine. It took him about 3 days to feel comfortable in his foster home, and now he is a friendly little guy who loves his person! Once Zeus trusts you, he loves you with his whole heart and the grumbles are a thing of the past! He loves to snuggle and wants to be in your lap all the time. He will follow you all over the place and wants to be where you are, but not in an anxious way. Zeus just adores his person and feels happiest with them. He is very affectionate and gives kisses and loves to be petted. He can be protective of his person with other dogs, and is standoffish with them. He really doesn't interact with the dogs in his foster home and would be best as an only dog or in a home with a small senior pup for a companion. He is quiet and calm for the most part, even with the other dogs in his foster home, but he is apprehensive about strange sounds and noises. He is in a foster home with a lot of dogs and activity, and we do believe he would be happier in a quieter home. He has not been cat tested, and is not comfortable with kids and should not go to a home with children of any age. He doesn't ever fully settle with them and it seems like they scare him. Zeus would probably enjoy a calmer, older family or person with a relaxed lifestyle. We are requiring a home with a fenced yard for him due to his timidness. He does like to be outside, but is not one to run around and do zoomies. He's more of an occasional sun-bather! His housebreaking is a work in progress, and he's close to fully potty trained. He does know how to use a doggy door and is well mannered in the home. Zeus would be a great companion dog for someone looking for a little snuggler! He has been to the vet for a wellness check, is current on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
