Gonzo lived with an elderly lady all 12 years of his life. When the lady no longer could care for herself she moved into the home of a married offspring who has children. Gonzo nipped at the kids and didn't like the husband so the family dumped him at a regional pound. Gonzo was obviously loved by the elderly lady but was medically neglected. When we took him in he needed 25 teeth pulled - many of which fell out on their own during the surgery. He must have been in terrible pain! For a 12 year old Gonzo is energetic and bouncy. He had blood work done at our Vet and is in perfect health overall. He could easily live another 8+ years!! Now that Gonzo's mouth has healed up, he is happy and playful. He eats canned food made into a thick slurry with a little warm water. It is very obvious that Gonzo would be the perfect companion for a single woman with no other dogs. Gonzo generally doesn't like men (he will nip - painless considering he has no teeth) but men do stress him even when they are nice to him. He also has a hard time around other dogs...not getting along with most, even small ones, here at CCR. If you are home a lot and want a loving little boy, Gonzo could be the one for you!!
