About Artemis

Lab / Boxer
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Artemis is being rehomed through no fault of hers. This girl needs a fenced yard and possible a canine buddy to play with. A 2 bedroom apartment and not much outdoor activity is not the best scenerio. Her owners realize she need more. Artemis loves to run and play. Any bugs in the yard will be escorted out of the area. She loves to chase after them. Running around doing Zoomies - she is up to that especially outside and she will break into some silly spins when she sees someone she knows or sometimes for no reason at all. Tennis balls don't stand a chance as she is always up for a game of fetch and when she sees you go to her toy box and take out the ball, look out - you need to be ready for a game of 'Get the ball'. Tug of war is another favorite and she will bring you her rope, nudge you, and let you know 'Game on'. She loves to snoop in the grocery bags for her weekly toys and looks at you as if to say, 'OK what did you buy me this week?' She loves going to her doggy day care so she can see her friends and run and climb around on all the fun things they have. We are Working on commands - she does extremely well with treats and figures out quickly which pocket the treats are in. She does great with sit and lay down. She is doing extremely well with just hand signals with those commands and is getting the hang of stays for longer periods. She enjoys 'helping' in the kitchen especially when she knows I am baking her cookies. If you Need some more warmth in the cold weather - she's your extra blanket. If you can't find her on a cold day, check under the covers. She can be found there. Grab the leash and she becomes instant Velcro and gives you a look of 'Alright, let's go. We've got people to see and things to investigate'. She will bark at the window when new people come in and she is shy until she warms up to you. You will get bonus points with her if you come bearing snacks. Once she gets to know you, when you come back she will break into a serious tail wag and act as if she has not seen you for years. She does well with other friendly dogs Smaller dogs can stress her somewhat if they are yappy. She has interacted with cats in the past and for the most part has done well with them. Sitting out on the porch with you on a nice day makes her happy and she usually will lie next to you soaking up the sun and keeping an eye on the neighborhood. Artemis has not been around young children. We would recommend older children/young adults Artemis will be a great family companion.
