*** PLEASE READ THIS BIO CAREFULLY AND DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY BENGAL EXPERIENCE OR ARE UNDER 30 YEARS OF AGE *** Georgi originally came from a less than desirable situation where he was confined to small living quarters. He used litter box avoidance as a means to let his original guardian know he wasn't pleased with his situation. Bengal cats are smart and can be willful, and peeing inappropriately is usually the only way for a cat to get the attention of their guardian that he or she either needs a better environment or species appropriate food - no dry kibble for this breed. In order to be completely transparent, we will let his current guardian describe Georgi's behavior and personality. His guardians are either looking for a permanent home for Georgi or are open to sharing this gorgeous, but willful cat with a regular foster home. Georgi and his guardian have settled into the only routine that keeps him from peeing anywhere except in a box (most of the time%BD'%BD|now when he does, it's for a reason) and curtails his aggressive attacks to a minimum%BD'%BD|maybe once every other day, but sometimes twice a day. This alone means that someone will have to be very confident and comfortable learning Georgi's body language and signs. Jackson Galaxy has done some episodes on 'My Cat From Hell' that discusses ways to deal with this type of cat behavior. His guardian states that he really enjoys Georgi's company%BD'%BD|he's a character. He's a really neat cat, very sweet and easily handled. He replies when called, and even comes running about half the time. They have settled into a routine where Georgi is allowed to go outside on his own during the day for some amount of time. When he goes out, he always has his vest on and is wearing a Whistle GPS monitor with an amazingly accurate/dependable app that his guardian watches while he's out. It's the *only* thing that keeps Georgi from aggressively attacking his guardian as prey%BD'%BD|he is a mouser and HAS to hunt things. The vet explained that it is a 'hunting' reflex, and not play, when he watched a couple of videos of Georgi. Walking him for an hour a couple of times a day was not doing it. Reduced the number of attacks, but not the violence/bloodshed. Putting him in the catio screen room wasn't helping, he was more aggressive being closer to freely roaming. So he goes out for an hour or two. He doesn't go far, stays on the property most of the day and wanders to neighbor's yards once in a while. The guardian posted his picture and story on NextDoor so the neighbors who didn't see them walking Georgi would know him%BD'%BD|a smart move, it turned out. Everybody knows him. He's such an outgoing, friendly cat. After 6 pm, that all changes and he'll start prowling further and further away from home, so that only happens when he slips out. They leave the vest/GPS on after dinner if he's acting like he's going to make a break for it! It's a balance that keeps them all relatively happy. He needs attention, although he doesn't really act like he appreciates it much. He *never* purrs, but his body language (kneading, etc.) shows he's often content. His guardians have had a few Bengals, but Georgi requires way more attention than any other cat they have known. It's kind of starting to get in the way of them being able to do normal life things for more than a couple of hours at a time away from the house, and that's why his guardian has reached out for help with this strong willed cat. Georgi's guardian thinks he's going to need to find a home with somebody%BD'%BD|one person%BD'%BD|who really has *nothing* other to do and nowhere to go for more than a couple of hours. He does better (bonding, etc.) when it's just him and 1 other person. This cat cannot just be locked up in a room - he will not be happy and will make his unhappiness known. His guardian thinks that one solution might be to find another foster home who could share Georgi with them, and take him in while they are out of town. The better solution for Georgi would probably be to find him a permanent home with one person and probably a dog or two(!). He likes dogs, has made friends with most of the neighborhood ones (even those whose owners freaked out when they first saw him 'because (s)he's never seen a cat before'. Georgi is currently located in IRVINE, CA.
