About Jess

Jess and Joey pull on our heart strings every day. This bonded pair is still learning that the world is not such a scary place, and they will never be harmed by a human again. Jess and Joey have a sad past of being kept in a yard with several other dogs, with very little human contact. Jess has had many litters of puppies at such a young age, all of which were taken away from her and sold as soon as they could. We believe they were both treated very poorly which has led them to be very fearful. They have made some baby steps in the right direction since they have come to SPR. They are no longer trembling when people come near them, and we are able to walk them on a leash together, without them panicking. However they still have a long way to go. We are looking for a foster home for Jess and Joey. They are extremely bonded, so they do need to stay together. Ideally a foster home with a confident dog would be amazing for these two, a confident dog can make a world of a difference by teaching them to trust and learn to be a normal dog. It is important to note that any potential foster will need to be extremely patient. Jess and Joey are not your average dogs. It will take a very long time before they trust people, and a very long time before they willingly approach you, or want any type of affection. However there are so many rewards to fostering, especially fostering dogs that REALLY need it. Please consider opening up your heart and your home to Jess and Joey.
