About Suki and Sadie

Saint Bernard
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

****WILLING TO TRANSPORT TO THE PERFECT HOME FOR OVER 5 HOURS*** Rhinebeck, New York Sadie and Suki - Sadie and Sukie - 6 (almost 7) year old spade females. Up to date on all vaccinations and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Fully bonded and cannot be separated. No young children. Fear based aggression. Sadie: Sadie is a big girl and she knows it. She weighs around 155 pounds, even after losing quite a bit of weight over the last year! She is in charge and will let you know it, she can get a little vocal when she wants her way, it's actually really cute. She's the more serious of the two girls and always looks out for her sister Sukie. Sadie has fear based aggression towards strangers. She doesn't like people coming in the house and she needs a proper introduction with treats and a thorough assessment before she deems you safe to be around. Sadie finds her person and bonds strongly with them, and once that happens, you are hers! She doesn't trust men as much as women. She does very well on a leash but will lunge and bark at people and dogs that are too close, and a bond has to be built in order for her to listen in those moments of fear. Sadie likes to chill, she literally doesn't like to do much more than lay around. She doesn't like you to touch her with your feet -AT ALL, but she loves to be brushed and groomed. She doesn't tolerate children antics very well, she wants to be left alone for the most part, but she will let you brush her for hours! She is extremely food motivated and is very very trainable, especially when you have treats! She knows how to sit, leave it, and down. We are teaching her to stay back when we come home and she is responding really well (even though she can barely contain her excitement to see you!) Once you get passed the fear-based aggression and earn her trust- Sadie is a love bug. She is a dream in the house! She doesn't chew things up, she never counter surfs or gets in the trash. She really loves to make her people happy! She is nicknamed Lady Sadie. Sadie is healthy per her last check up, no major issues. She is up to date on her vaccinations and is on flea and heartworm prevention. Sukie: Sukie is a leprechaun in a St. Bernard body. She is fun, playful and mischievous, and a bit of a trouble maker! Sukie loves to play and is very athletic, she seems much younger than her 6 years! She is not good on a leash, but she does understand basic commands and can listen when she feels like it. Sukie is not food motivated - so training with praise works best for her. Sukie is small dog aggressive and it is important to understand that this will surprise you! She is super friendly with people and very easy going, so it tends to come as a shock when she bolts towards a small animal. She needs to be leashed around other dogs - no off leash dog parks for this girl. Sukie has a torn cruciate (knee) - that has been monitored by her vet for years. It does not slow her down and occasionally she will get inflammation in her knee and need anti-inflammatories. Sukie gets very anxious when she is not with Sadie, Sadie is her protector and the alpha of the two - however Sukie causes drama by sounding the alarm to Sadie for no apparent reason (Sadie is the muscle and Sukie is the alarmist!). Sukie is healthy per last check up in early April, and is up to date on all vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention. Sukie also loves to watch tv, it's very cute! She will bark at the dogs and animals on the television! (She's never attacked the television - thank God). She is also very good in the house and is not destructive at all. However Sukie does best with a chew toy like a kong or a bone to keep her busy, or she gets bored in the house. Sukie would do great learning hide and seek games, and similar obstacle course jobs to keep her athletic body and mind busy! Both Girls get anxiety when separated from each other, they are a pair and very bonded. This is adorable! They eat at the same time, they turn their heads synchronously when called, and they will both follow you around the house at the same time. But it also has unique challenges, they tend to play off of each other's anxiety and it can be challenging to get two large anxious dogs to relax! They both love car rides but will bark loudly at people walking by - it's a bit shocking. They are wonderful girls and they need a large fenced yard, with an experienced owner who can handle their unique challenges. A home without kids is best for them.
