Can you help and/or share? In two weeks we will not have a constant home. Our house has sold and we will be staying with loving friends and family while we wait to find another to purchase. This boy needs better. History and meds - We rescued him from a highly traveled road out here in the country. The vet said he was about 5 years old at the time. The first home we found neutered him, and had gotten his shots. After 3 weeks they introduced him to their 5 house cats and apparently that didn't go well. They asked if I would take him back. The second one, I drove up to Fort Worth and stayed the night. It look like it was going to work out until the next morning when their vet said that he had a heart worms. It has been three years later and I have continued to give him a heartworm preventative along with flea and tick meds and he has not had any issues. He is about 95 pounds and looks so much better than when we picked him up. Last year the vet gave him steroids in a pill form and antibiotics for a skin yeast infection that had caused him to scratch and lose a lot of hair. None of that is happening anymore. Personality - He loves people, ALL people! He growled at me one time early on when I accidentally scared him but nothing else with anyone ever. He does not bark either. He is socialized often and though plays rough, loves all three of my grandsons ages now two, six and nine years old. He comes out in the front yard with me regularly and will play nicely with the 20 pound neighbor dog next door. He wants so badly to play with 'friends' that when one of my different grand dogs comes over at different times, there are 5, they hide or ask me for help because he just wants to play and be with them. He loves fetch with a tennis ball. He knows sit yet I have been lax on making him. He does not go into the kitchen nor bathrooms. He knows go lie down. He walks well on a lead. He is a true gentle Ben and deserves more love and attention than I can give him. He enjoys being nearby no matter where I am. I named him Buddy. He is now about 8 years old. If you know someone that needs a big loving companion, he is truly it!
