About PUKA

PUKA Puka is an 8 yr old sweet old girl who was brought to us by a worried person who saw her being given away for free on craigslist. We agreed to take her sight unseen and soon after realized this poor soul has most likely never had a nice life. She was dirty, nails overgrown, she has arthritis, a swollen right paw, skin tags, fatty tumors, was being fed Beneful. She has hip dysphagia. The owners told the transporter she belonged to their sister who became homeless, now they were being evicted! Puka was brought to our vet and received an entire ($600) workup including bloodwork, x-rays, biopsies. We are told she may have cancer, unknown how long she will live. She is spayed but has mammary chains. The is not a candidate for surgery so we are feeding her healthy, giving her hip supplements and an orthopedic bed and lots of love! She is a happy dog and other then getting up slowly she is enjoying a nice home, her bed, basking in the sun and good company of other dogs! She is social, sometimes bossy, lol, has a good appetite, enjoys short walks, and is potty (dog door) trained.
