About Fiona

Fiona is a 1 year old Australian Cattle Dog/ German Shepherd mix. We have done a Wisdom DNA panel on her that we would be happy to share as well. She weighs 40lbs, is fully vaccinated, spayed, and has a clean bill of health. She is house and crate trained. She loves to play, loves her toys, and loves her walks. Fiona has completed basic obedience class and knows sit, down, stay, leave it, come, and bed, but she is not off-leash trained. She is extremely smart, energetic and loves to please. Belly rubs, fetch, and her Kongs with peanut butter are a few of her favorite things. We have a cat she absolutely loves and has never shown any adverse behavior to. Her interaction with other dogs has been minimal but from what we have seen, Fiona likely would flourish as an only dog as she loves her attention and loves her people. We have had the pleasure of having Fiona in our lives over the last 10 months. She really is such a joy and sweetheart to be around. However, since getting to know Fiona, we have also learned that she can feel territorial towards kids. She has NEVER bitten but has given us clear signs of when to back off and it is always towards our kids. We currently have 2 kids with one more due in August. It absolutely breaks our hearts to be looking for a new home for her. We have sought out two separate highly regarded professional opinions and with our baby coming in a few months the answer was clear that this is not the best environment not only for our growing family but also for Fiona. She no doubt would be the best companion for someone but just not with kids. We want to give Fiona the best life possible that she deserves, even if it can't be with us. We want to make sure that she goes to the right home and not just give her up. A small rehoming fee may be requested. Fiona would do wonderful with space to run, no smaller children, and as an only dog.
