About Blue

This gorgeous boy is Blue. Blue is around a year old and is a Bluetick Coonhound. Blue currently weighs 75 pounds as is probably close to his adult weight. Blue's previous owner either didn't have the time for him or chose not to give him the amount of attention he needed. A neighbor and a previous Fur Fun adopter asked if he could have Blue and find him a new home. Thankfully the neighbor agreed and we committed to finding him a new home. Blue is a smart boy who just hadn't had any training before arriving at his foster home. He is learning new skills quickly. Blue is a very social boy with both other dogs and humans. He is still an energetic puppy who thinks everyone is there to play with him. He loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home and takes corrections from the senior dogs very well. We don't know how he would be with a cat, but think that he can easily be trained to leave a cat alone. Blue would be a great family dog since he loves everyone, but anyone with small children should consider his size and how their children would do with a large dog. Because of his lack of attention and training during his puppyhood, he does not like being kenneled. It is a stressful place to him as he was probably left in a kennel for too many hours with his previous owner. He is still a puppy and finds things to chew on and play with when not supervised. His foster home is working on desensitizing him to the kennel, but he would do best in a home where he can have some supervision throughout the day. For a hound he does not bark or howl very often unless he is unsure or stressed. Blue is going on regular walks with his foster and their dogs. He quickly learned to walk on a leash and now walks right along with the others. He really enjoys his walks and playing outdoors. He would love to have a physically fenced yard where he can run and play safely throughout the day.
