About Stanley

Stanley has been here for several months now and what a sweet boy he is! Stanley is a doxie /basset mix, which means he is a LOW RIDER with short basset legs and a doxie head. He has the most gorgeous red/tan coat! He is the sweetest boy and wags his tail all the time. He is good with other dogs and plays with all of his canine family. He is a very amicable and social fellow! True to doxie fashion, his nose is always to the ground, and he has become an expert lizard hunter. He loves belly rubs, comes when called and knows basic commands. Stanley was an owner surrender. He was always escaping from his owners, so they turned him in. He has been very good with us so far, but he will need a pretty solid fenced yard. If he has enough attention and things to do, he will be fine. He loves walks, and car rides! He is lower energy, and will not need a lot of toys or props to satisfy his mental status. He has been treated for heartworms and is doing very well. He is crate trained and house trained. He knows sit; has a great recall and he will down. He could still use some manners classes just so he can be the social man he is. Overall, he is a delightful fellow and will put a smile on your face. We do have occasional marking in the home, and he loves his belly bands. Shares his toys, food with other dogs. He would be a great addition for a senior couple. He does love kids also but he is a lower energy status. Stanley is currently being fostered in Bradenton.
