About Kentucky Derby

'Howdy partner! My name is Kentucky Derby and I am just the cutest puppy that you'll ever meet. Coincidentally, I am also available for adoption! I am a 4 month old Treeing Walker Coonhound/mix that came to SVASC when my owners were unable to find a home for me. Now, I would really love to find a family to call my own. At 4 months old, I am all puppy and am always on the go! Being that I'm a hound, I am also very... well... hound-like. I would do really well in a home that maybe has some good hound experience. I am an active and playful pup that will likely grow up to be medium-high energy, so I would do best in a home with a yard to play in or with a family that can really get me out and about. I have already embraced my hound dog roots and can be a bit noisy sometimes, so apartment living likely isn't for me. I love to romp and run with other dogs, so I should do just fine in a home with other pups. I was also raised around kiddos and so I should be okay in a home with kids, as well. When thinking about bringing a puppy home, please remember that we are a lifetime commitment that will require regular exercise, training, and socialization. SVASC recommends that my adopter get me signed up for puppy classes, so that I can be the best pup ever! Additionally, please keep in mind that my breed guess is just a guess and may not be accurate; SVASC cannot predict adult sizes or weights. My adoption fee is $125 to an approved adopter.
