About POPPY

Meet pretty Poppy! She is a beautiful chocolate brown Miniature Australian shepherd mix who came to us from a shelter. Poppy is 2 years old and weighs 10 pounds. She was scared at first and is still timid, but warms up more and more every day. We love watching her nubby little tail wag when she's happy or excited...her whole body wags with it! Poppy is affectionate with her person once she trusts and loves them. She isn't a fan of being picked up, but will jump up in your lap for loving with no hesitation, and she loves to sleep in the big bed at night. She will give kisses and gets along well with both men and women. Poppy is great with older kids, but she startles with quick motions and isn't fond of loud noises, so a home with younger children will not be a good fit for her. She is ok with other dogs, but she would prefer a home with one or two dogs, not with a pack! She might be best with a dog her size or a little bigger. She plays once in awhile, but not a lot, mostly running and chasing in the yard with one of the other little dogs in her foster home. We think she would be ok as an only dog. She has not been cat tested and we believe she most likely will chase them. Poppy is smart and probably will learn to walk on a leash, but she would love a fenced yard. She would prefer a quiet home, as she can be a bit nervous with a lot of activity. Poppy has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, has been heartworm tested and received a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
