About Ginger

Ginger is a three year old Chihuahua that was surrendered to us after her elderly owner became ill and could no longer care for her. This poor little girl has no idea where her Mama went and is longing for the comforts of home. She is uncomfortable with new people, places and loud noise; which makes shelter life hard for her. Slow first introductions have been the most successful. Ginger is much more relaxed when outside in our play yard where she is able to interact with volunteers more freely. Ginger is the perfect companion for an adult or family with older children that enjoy a simple low-key lifestyle. She's a petite girl and only weighs twelve pounds. Ginger is the perfect size to cuddle in your lap or share your bed at night. We do not know if she is fully housetrained but she does try to keep her kennel clean. A fenced in yard will be needed to keep her safe when outside. Ginger does well with dogs that respect her space and don't jump on her. She has not been exposed to cats but we can easily test that for you. If you're looking for a small dog to keep you company as you go about your day, Ginger would love to meet you.
