About Charlie

Meet gorgeous Charlie! He is a 7 year old, 14.8 pound Schnauzer mix who was surrendered to the vet after his owner asked that he be euthanized. According to the owners, he chased the UPS man, was snippy with the teenage daughter, and didn't like strangers coming into the home. The vet said he had been a patient there for over 5 years and had never heard a complaint till then! Luckily the vet refused to put him to sleep and Charlie came to rescue. The only slightly negative behavior since he's been with us that we have noticed that he is protective of his foster mom's teenage granddaughter. He has decided that she is his person and he will grumble if other dogs come running up to her. He also growled at another child who tried to get in between him and HIS child. We don't think he should go to a home with kids and believe he would be best in a home with an older or retired couple. Charlie is shy at first, but warms up as he gets comfortable. He loves to give kisses and is definitely a lap dog. He really enjoys his belly rubs too! He is friendly and likes to curl up next to you (or on top of you) and will follow you from room to room. He wants to be with his person wherever they are! Charlie is not playful with other dogs and is a bit standoffish with them. He is not really a fan of other dogs and absolutely would be happiest as an only dog in the home. He does well with his house breaking and knows how to use a doggy door. He likes to go for walks and is good on a leash and we think he would be ok without a fenced yard. Charlie has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
