Otis Chihuahua Male 6 years old 15 lbs. Hi! I'm Otis and I'm looking for love-hopefully in all the right places! I've had a tough time lately. My owner died and I wound up terrified in a shelter. I'm also shy and scared after all I've been through. Nobody really knows why but I have scars on my body and it looks like maybe one of my paws was previously broken. But I'm ready to have a brand new outlook on life and I'm ready to move on and re-learn how to fully trust again! I've been in my foster home for about a month now and I've made so much progress in building confidence overall! I now follow my foster mom around the house and I do an adorable happy dance when she comes home. But I'm not ready to be touched yet and I am not comfortable with affection at this point. I'm hoping to find a patient, loving person who can help me recover from the past and help me build that trust to be a pet again. I know I will get there as I've come leaps and bounds in my confidence in the past month! Due to my nervousness with being touched, I do need to be in a home without kids and I'd just enjoy a quieter home overall where I can thrive. I LOVE the company of other dogs and I think having another friendly dog in my forever home would help me a ton. I enjoy their companionship and like having little buddies around. I haven't met a cat yet so I can't share how I would do with a cat friend but I'd likely be ok with a dog-friendly cat and a slow transition. It's also super important that I have a forever home with a safe and secure yard (no apartments and no chain link fences please!) I am not comfortable getting a leash on so I need a yard to be able to go potty outside. I'm picking up my potty routine really well and am almost potty trained! Just need some extra patience and love from a forever family to 100% perfect my potty training skills.
