About Ralphie and Dixie

Dixie and Ralphie are Cardigan Corgis that were released by their owner. They have lived a sheltered life. In spite of their limited experiences, they get along with other dogs and like humans when given time to warm up and trust. Ralphie is a handsome 5 year old neutered male and weighs about 40lbs. He is very shy around new people and slow to warm up but does with time and effort. He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home. He is interested in the house cats and will bark. The cats in Ralphie's foster home are very confident and dog savvy. Ralphie is able to use a dog door and appears to be potty trained and well behaved in the house. He does not chew on things or have accidents. Ralphie has never been leash trained and is currently learning to walk on a leash. He is enjoying short walks in the meadow. He has shown interest in the creek and appears to enjoy sniffing new smells. Ralphie has not encountered other animals, people or cars on his walks yet. Ralphie barks when he is unsure about his environment. He would like to find a home with Dixie so that he can continue to wrestle with her and take long naps in close proximity. Though Ralphie is unsure of many things, he has only been good natured in his new circumstances. He needs a family who will let him comes around on his own terms and not rush him to trust. Dixie is a beautiful 9 year old spayed female. She weighs about 42 lbs and needs to lose a pound or two. Dixie is getting along with the other dogs in her foster home. She tends to be vocal and does growl some when establishing boundaries with other dogs. She is also interested in the house cats but the cats in the foster home are confident and dog savvy. Dixie is able to use the dog door and appears to be potty trained and well behaved when left alone. She does not have accidents or chew on things. Dixie is learning to walk on a leash. She is enjoying walks in the meadow and has plenty of confidence even in these new circumstances. She looks very happy exploring the meadow. She likes to bark to share her joy. In her current rural setting, barking is not excessive. Dixie has also shown an interest in all kitchen activities and if she were taller she would likely be a counter surfer. Instead, Dixie is satisfied being the kitchen supervisor. Dixie is sweet natured. She enjoys Ralphie's company and Ralphie would be lost without her. They REQUIRE a somewhat active family with a fenced in yard and respectful children over 12 y/o. They are both utd on vaccs, altered, and will be chipped prior to adoption. The adoption fee for the pair is $725 and we are not doing any out of state adoptions right now nor will we consider separating them.
