About Sami

Sami is young -- a vet he has seen thinks he is around 2 years old. He is FIV+ so would be best as an only cat. He is also semi-feral. He is on a Marine Base and has showed up for months at the home of a young family who are scheduled to move next month. They trapped him, paid for shots and neutering, but on discovering that he is FIV+, have been 'keeping' him outside. They provide food and shelter for him but he constantly wants to come in. He is learning to be comfortable with people but needs a human who can be patient with him. He cannot be picked up yet and will try to bite or swipe if someone tries to pet him. But he is making progress and developing trust -- he will allow the mom of the family to touch him now and pick up his front paws. The family is looking for a new home because they are moving and can't be certain that the new family moving into their home would care for him. Also the base has a no feral cats policy.
