About Neo

I have found a new home for this dog. Please do not contact me. I haven't figured out how to delete this post. Neo is a 4 year old cockapoo who LOVES people, but he does not do well with small children. He was great when my son was an infant, but my son got rough with him as a toddler, & now my son is 4 & he won't stop antagonizing our poor dog. Neo does not like his paws or tail being touched, & will growl if this happens. He will even growl if he is suspicious of a child touching him. He generally does ok with kids when he's on the leash & I'm right there supervising the interaction. But he has bitten my son 2-3 times in the past couple of years. We feel we have tried everything to prevent this, reaching our son etiquette, expensive training for Neo. Nothing seems to help. Neo has become so sensitive & nervous around kids. He usually gets along with dogs his size or smaller, but it's hit or miss with bigger dogs. Sometimes he feels threatened & tries to overcompensate with barking. Neo had a herniated disk in the fall of 2020 & he had emergency surgery to fix it. He's mostly back to normal, but does seem to have a little less strength in his hind legs. He also has a small slit in the side of his tongue from a grooming accident when he was younger. It's healed well & does not affect his ability to drink water. He does not enjoy getting his nails or his hair trimmed, especially on his paws, legs, & tail. He growls a lot during grooming sessions, & has put his teeth on me once or twice, so I usually use a muzzle. Other than issues with kids, Neo is so sweet. He doesn't even run away if he gets out the front door because he wants to be around people so much. His favorite thing is to snuggle on the couch with me at the end of the day while chewing his bone. He has a lot of energy. He would do great with someone with no young children, & preferably a backyard to run around in. He loves chasing birds. He also needs someone committed to taking him on lots of walks & hikes. He heels well on a leash with a prong collar, & has also been trained with an ecollar.
