About Ruby

Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

TO BE KILLED - MAY 14, 2021 If you have a penchant for beauty and loyalty, Ruby is your gem! She is a few years old and just 33 lbs. Her stand tall and proud ears give her a foxy look! She is healthy, exceedingly intelligent, and loyal to a fault! Ruby lived in a home with no children or pets prior to arriving to the shelter. That home was her life, bonded securely and protective beyond measure. Now discarded, she is apprehensive of the environment and everyone in it. She has shown much promise during different scenarios, though her intelligence guides her to keep her guard up. She is protective over her loved ones, and food/treats. Though she is petite, she is confident, bearing a strong heart. Trained in multiple commands! Reportedly she is very playful and sociable when secure. Looking into her eyes at the shelter, she presents as heartbroken, alert, and sharp. We know she would serve a home proudly and loyally if given a fair chance to breathe and trust. A dog's heart only understands forever, which holds true for our Ruby. Sadly she has been rushed to the kill list instead of extending the benefit of a period of decompression and adjustment. We are so hoping a dog loving and savvy someone comes to her rescue, she is so worth the effort. Message us if you are interested in this beautiful raw gem. IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS: 4/14/21: Ruby was brought into the downstairs co-working office to be harness/leashed up to go to foster. A small noise of a chair moving startled her immediately and she barked and growled with hackles raised, but moved away from the stimulus and seemed to settle, walking around the room. She was offered treats and did not take them, and offered soft wet food as well which she did not engage with. While walking, she managed to get herself out of the slip leash, so staff member pulled a nylon leash out of a box to clip to her collar and called her name in a high soft voice. Ruby turned towards the staff member and charged forward, barking and growling. Staff member used a chair to block her. Ruby then turned and went over to the soft food that had been offered. She growled consistently while eating it (every person was against the walls of the office and Ruby in the middle, nobody closer than 3-4
