About Donna Star Lisa Frank

Jack Russell / Dachshund
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Donna 'Star' Lisa Frank!! |'' We really just call her Star. Her name is a result of way to many name suggestions between us and her foster, so we just gave up and used them all LOL! Little miss DSLF has the personality to support four names for sure. Super sweet, very smart and ready to go, go, go. Hiking, agility courses, anything active and she's ready to go. DSLF is a 9 pound female, approx. 8 month old, small mix breed. Maybe Dachshund, Chihuahua, probably some Jack Russell mixed in. (Her breed mix is equally as confusing as what we named her'|) She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. She is heartworm negative. DSLF has done well with other dogs so far. She is timid with new dogs/people for a few minutes and then quickly becomes playful. She has lived with big dogs without any issues but really comes to life playing with dogs around her size. She has not had any issues living with cats so far. She was living with an infant when we took her in and did great with the baby. She likes kids that aren't to hyper around her until she warms up to them. She is very playful and has a higher energy level. She needs a fun and active family with a fenced yard because she loves to run! She is pretty wide open most of the day. She is NOT a lap dog at all but will usually cuddle with you in the evening after a day of releasing all her energy. DSLF has a Jack Russell personality and is extremely smart. She has already learned to sit and will also spin in a circle on command. She also loves the agility course, she learned the A frame in 3 tries and it is now one of her favorite things. If you are looking for a tiny agility dog or even a hiking buddy this girl is all about it! DSLF is learning to walk on a leash, she is doing great with it but needs to be on a harness so she doesn't choke herself. She is good on car rides and is crate trained. She can easily fit through small holes in fences so extra care should be taken to secure your yard properly. She will also try to run out of open doors, but she is getting better about that with training. She has one undesirable behavioral issue we are working hard to reverse. It appears she was never taken outside to potty in her previous home. When she arrived here she thought she was supposed to go potty inside her kennel. We have been working hard with her on this but her new family will have to be committed to continuing the training. She is starting to use puppy pads in and out of her crate but the progression to outside is still slow going. With how smart she is we think once she figures out what we want from her then she will adjust quickly. DSLF thinks she is a guard dog, well an alert dog is probably more accurate. She will let you know if anything is moving around your home. She can also be vocal when left alone although we are working with her on that. For these reasons she would not make a good apartment dog. This tiny girl is a huge dog packed into a pint size package. She is the greatest thing since the Lisa Frank trapper keepers came out in the 90's. If you're looking for a fun, active and playful dog then DSLF might just be the one!!
