About Willy

Westie mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Willy is a special needs dog. He needs someone who has animal behavior experience or something similar. He has anxiety and is on medication for it. He takes fluoxetine (Prozac) which is not expensive about $15/mo. He prefers small dogs and cats that are not aggressive BUT a meet and greet would have to be done. No children. We can explain further if you have a sincere interest in him. Willy is a 9 yrs old, 22 lb, terrier mix, he is neutered, got full senior bloodwork, and UTD on Rabies, Distemper/Lepto, Lyme, Bordetella, Heartworm test, and fecal sample. Being a senior dog I would not put Willy with children. He prefers small dogs and plays well with them, he is good with his foster's cat who is also calm BUT a meet and greet would have to be done to be sure they get along. Willy was very close to euthanasia. The vet had deemed that he had a painful back and that his owner (an elderly woman) possibly did not know how to handle him/handled him wrong while he had this back pain and thus became fearful towards her. His owner also stopped giving him his daily fluoxetine (Prozac) which is another reason we believe he was possibly fearful towards his owner. His current foster home says: Willy needs a chance at the new life he so deserves. He loves my 10 lb pekingese/pug mix and has been great with my cats, he just doesn't seem to like my big dog. He is very trainable and I have also started him back on his Prozac which seems to help his overstimulation as well. We just want to find him a perfect home-- one he is truly deserving of since he really is a good boy. Willy is an awesome dog and deserves a chance at a new life. Do you have the patience and love to give him a chance to prove himself?
