About Chipper

**PLEASE READ CHIPPER'S BIO THOROUGHLY BEFORE INQUIRING.** Isn't our Chipper the most adorable pup you ever seen? We think so! Chipper is a 3-4 year old /12lb. Our best guess and what the vet thinks is that he is a terrier mix, possibly Tibetan Terrier/Lhasa Apso mix. We rescued Chipper from the shelter where he was found as a stray. When the shelter saw that he had a microchip, they called the phone number and was told his owner passed away and he was living with relatives who did not want him any longer. Chipper went straight to our foster in the Santa Ynez Valley, which is where his meet/greets will be held. Chipper is a dog that takes time to warm up to you, and definitely needs patience to feel safe and secure. He needs an adult only home that is calm and non chaotic. He would love a safe and secure yard where he can romp and play. Chipper can be in a home with another calm/sweet dog or he can be an 'only' dog if he has owners that are not gone long hours during the day and devote their time to him. He is getting the hang of potty training, but obviously he will need a refreshing in his new environment. We DO NOT want him in a home that will crate him. One thing to note is that Chipper can be a flight risk, meaning he will take off given the opportunity. We are requiring/contractual a 3ft dog gate at the front door regardless if you have a secure screen door or a fenced in front yard. This is a requirement. He must have a family that allows their pets on the furniture as he loves being on the couch and sleeping on the bed with you. He is a dog that requires dog savvy owners (no first time dog owners) that can continue working with him to be the best dog ever. We do see he needs work with leash training. If you are a loving, patient, and kind person who can devote the time to Chipper that he needs, it could be a possible match! Chipper's adoption fee is $600. Please note that Chipper is in the Santa Ynez Valley and meet/greets will be held out there. You do not take him home at that time. This is just for a meet/greet. If all works well, after a home check, you would drive back to Santa Ynez and pick him up.
