About HANSEN

'HANSEN' is a 1 yr old, 50 lb. German Shepherd male that was a stray we rescued. Hansen was found dumped in the country with a female who had given birth to a litter of puppies. Hansen is an energetic, smart, loyal & affectionate boy. Hansen has never been aggressive toward other animals and has been fostered with smaller dog. Hansen has only occasionally has barked at cats through fences. Hansen has a soft mouth; licks to show affection & adores attention. Hansen likes to chew, so needs appropriate hard toys to gnaw on. He will need additional work stopping jumping up on people and fences, which he does for attention & loving. Hansen's optimal home would be with an experienced and more athletic owner. We also recommend a family without children under the age of 8 yrs old. Hansen is very eager to please, loves praise, and is highly trainable. Hansen is neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. is 'light' heartworm positive, and is being treated with the slow kill method, as recommended by the Veterinarian. This rescue does not do it's own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
