About Cooper

Meet handsome Cooper! Cooper is a 40 pound Hound mix. He is 3 years old and is just learning how great life can be. He came to us from a shelter in IL and before being at the shelter he was an outside dog who had probably rarely been indoors. When he arrived he was so scared that we had to pull him out of the kennel and carry him into his foster home's yard. But within a few minutes he was rolling over giving his new foster mom his belly to rub. Cooper had to get used to living in a house, but he adapted very quickly. The first time he was in his foster home we could tell he was nervous. He was used to being outdoors and the feeling of being confined by 4 walls was new to him. All the sounds inside a house were new to him. He wasn't sure what that talking box in the living room was. He quickly decided the couch was a great place to be. It was so soft to lay on and he could see out the big window that gave him a great view of the street and all that was happening outside. Cooper has not been kenneled in his foster home because being confined in a kennel is very stressful for him. After a couple of weeks to settle in Cooper is thriving. He has mastered house training in a short time which is amazing for a dog that lived outdoors most of his life. He is sleeping next to his foster mom at night. He takes a little time to trust a new dog, but soon he is ready to play chase and run through the house and yard with his new friend. Cooper needs a physically fenced yard to keep him safe and he would benefit from having another dog in his new home. Cooper will quickly steal your heart with his gentle and vulnerable soul.
