About Kiwi

Kiwi is a 2yr old Chihuahua/Min Pin mix that came to us from The Humane Society of Yuma, in hopes we can find him a forever home. He weighs in at 8.4lbs currently, but should gain a bit more weight. Kiwi had a rough start to life. For 6mo's he was kept in a small laundry room and did not receive normal training and socialization at such an important young age. Thankfully someone stepped in and rescued him and tried to give him a good home. Due to living situations, it wasn't able to work out. He's a single prince charming looking for his princess! He prefers women, and hasn't done very well with men. When Kiwi first came to us he was pretty shy, but with giving him space and patience, it was just a few days before he was jumping into our laps, wagging his little nub, and giving kisses. Kiwi will take a few days to adjust, but once he knows you are okay he is the sweetest boy. He loves giving affection and receiving affection but doesn't enjoy being picked up directly from the floor. We have learned if he is in your lap or you are on the floor, he is ok with being picked up. He has done well with other small dogs and does like to play with other dogs here and there. He also likes toys and comfy dog toys. He knows the commands sit, stay, and get in your crate; also housebroken and crate trained. He also lived with a free roaming lizard and turtle previously and did well. We do not know how he is with kids, and recommend either female teens or no children in the home. He's a sweet boy with a rough start, looking for a happy ever after ending (with some patience of course). He would do best in a home with a yard due to not being leash trained. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and vet checked. His adoption fee is $220; comes with a complimentary vet visit and many perks!
