About GWOP

Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

TO BE KILLED - 5/6/2021 5 year old Goofy GWOP Loves Playing Fetch, Sunbathing, and Belly Rubs! A volunteer writes: Gwop has a delicious chocolate brown coat, and the cutest puppy-like face! This young-ish fella came to us when his family had to relocate, and their new place would not allow for a pet. Gwop's former family describes him as friendly, affectionate, confident and mellow. The owner loved how 'smart and caring he is.' His favorite activity is to run, go for walks (he is a strong guy on the leash, especially when it's time for potty-business outside), and sleep - sounds like a good routine to me! GWOP 112389 BROOKLYN ACC Estimated to be 5 years old, 60 lbs UNALTERED MALE, LARGE MIXED BREED OWNER SURR FROM NY 11208 MEDICAL BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: 3 YELLOW BEHAVIOR RATING: NHO INTAKE DATE 03/01/2021 PET PROFILE: My health has been checked. My vaccinations are up to date. My worming is up to date. I have been microchipped. Gwop has shown some social behaviors with staff in the care center, but has become anxious, aroused, begins leash biting, and has some difficulty settling during interactions. In his previous home, there were three-bite incidents to one member of the family. Gwop will require a slow, hands-off approach in any new environment to allow him to decompress at his pace. He will also require behavior modification and training to help him manage his anxiety, lack of impulse control, and arousal. An adult-only home with an experienced foster who can provide further socialization and training would be best. ORIGINAL BLURB - An extraordinary family pet who protects the women, loves and is gentle with the kids! This is Gwop and we can all see how heartbroken he is. His people moved to a place where he isn't allowed. They have only good things to say about this smart and loyal boy. Gwop is a gem of a dog. He is partial to ladies and kids, he wants to be your knight in shining armor! He doesn't like men in hats and hoodies, he's okay with men who approach calmly and who are respectful of his family. Please help Gwop, at 5 years old he still hasn't reached his greatness yet. Gwop will sparkle and shine as he gets older. Please be his hero, this boy will lay down his heart for you! ENRICHMENT: 4/23: Gwop's behavior remains the same. He was loose and wiggly and came out with no issues. During the session he engaged in play, remained loose and soft during the session going back with no issues. 4/20: I gave Gwop treats before easily securing the lead. He pulled hard in the hallway. We went into the pens and he immediately began to look for balls. I left him for a moment and grabbed some. We engaged in fetch and he traded readily. He would stop playing if I offered treats. He responds to 'sit', 'paw', 'down' and 'roll over' if lured. He allowed all handling for a rope harness with a ball in his mouth and we went on a relief walk. Due to his strength I waited until outside the room to undo his harness he returned without issue.
