About Jack (west)

Hi, my name is Jack ID#A4534017. I am a neutered male, brown and white American Pit Bull Terrier Mix. I'm a little over a year old, and I have been at the shelter since January 31, 2021. Here are notes about Jack when he first arrived at the shelter: 1/31/2021 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Jack allowed handling with minimal restraint; took treats gently, wiggly body squinty eyes. walked on leash to kennel. 2/1/2021 EVALUATION Energetic, affiliative; rushed into yard and immediately engaged in play; over time became overbearing and needed reminders from the lead to take breaks; pulled towards other dogs on return. 2/6/2021 DAY FOSTER He is very energetic, playful, and affectionate. He gets overly excited when he sees other dogs. He was pretty good on the leash. He enjoyed the car ride and the hike. However, Jack has begun to show signs of kennel deterioration. This happens to all social animals eventually when they have been incarcerated for long periods of time. They need social interaction whether with other dogs or people. We recommend that Jack be the only dog in the home, and he may require the services of a qualified handler for in-home training. Also, we recommend no children.
