About Petey

Say hello to one of the sweetest, happiest most neglected dogs on the planet 'Petey'. Petey was saved from a terrible home environment. He was left in a small crate 23 hour a day. Food was tossed in, so he never even knew what a bowl was. He was kept locked away in a dark basement for his whole life. He was emaciated and scared. A friend of the dogs owner convinced them to surrender him to us for socialization, and some training and to give him a life that he deserves. Petey is fully vaccinated, and heartworm and Lyme negative. He was recently neutered, and on monthly preventatives. We have begun training and working on socializing him with other dogs. He plays very well and has shown zero aggression. This is a huge win given his horrible neglected past. Any potential adopter must have proven experience with abused/neglected dogs, and understand these dogs need some time to decompress and settle in. An active owner or family is required since he has a lot of energy and needs to adjust to a safe happy home life. He is not trained well on a leash, so a fenced yard would be ideal, since he will need some leash training.
