Chiquita, this poor baby was an indoor dog her entire life until her mom died and her dad was sent to live in a facility and their relatives put Chiquita and her sister Lyla outside to live in a crate rain, shine, heat, or cold. Her sister had developed a huge lump on her leg and was not taken to the veterinarian, but when rescue got her it was too late Lyla had cancer and only lived a few days. Chiquita had developed a cough about a week before we got her and that also went unchecked, it started as kennel cough and developed into pneumonia and now chronic bronchitis, because of all the coughing Chiquita damaged her trachea, her hind legs both have luxating patellas, an abdominal hernia, she is also overweight by about 3, she has cataracts and awful teeth. As soon as she is over her bronchitis she will be getting a dental and her hernia will be repaired. She has also lost a little weight. If it hadn't been for her owner's caregiver she would have died in that yard. The woman tried for months to find a rescue or help and no one stepped up if they had things might have turned out differently. Chiquita was very sad for a long time but she is with a foster now who has a neighbor with a child and Chiquita is being showered with love. She is housebroken, loves to be carried, gets along with other dogs, cats and children. She loves people. She currently weighs about 7.8 pounds and still needs lose more, she should weigh about 5 pounds and she is about 7 years old She will be vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed.
