About Saint

Adoption Fee: $100
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Saint is a 2.5 year old GSD, who loves to be outside, and chase/fetch tennis balls more than anything in life! He walks fairly well on a leash - he pulls a little in the beginning, but walks beside me after his enthusiasm calms down a bit. He isn't phased by rain, thunder, or fireworks. He's sweet to everyone - kids and adults (both men and women). He doesn't bark at visitors to our home. He doesn't bark at people sharing the sidewalk in our neighborhood. He loves to be brushed and tolerates bathing well. Saint gets along well with dogs. He hasn't met any cats. He needs outdoor space, and a strong alpha leader with experience in training. He follows basic commands and is a quick learner. Saint has had two recent sleep-overs with families who decided not to adopt him. The first gentlemen and his female shepherd said that Saint woke up too early in the morning on the first morning (6:45 am), and that he stuck to the gentleman's side too much, as opposed to playing with his dog more. The second family had a 9 year old dog who Saint was too eager to play with, instead of settling down to sleep at night. Saint will need some decompression time, to get used to his new home and family members. He'll need a calm and patient leader who will give him time and grace to learn what your expectations of him are. He probably won't sleep through the night the first night. If you have experience with integrating new dogs into your pack, and know how to slowly incorporate a new dog, I'd like to talk to you. Saint is a sweet and fantastic dog, but he's high energy and he will take over, if you let him be the boss, as will any GSD. Saint has had a recent clean bill of health and negative heart worm test from his veterinarian and is not due for anything, for a year. Saint is microchipped. Saint comes with many extras, like toys, a bed, food, topical flea and heartworm medication, and treats. Vet records and a rabies tag available. We're located in the NW Houston area.
