About Stetson

Introducing Stetson! He is a 4 year old, 19 pound Westie terrier mix. Stetson was picked up as a very scared stray and it took him some time to relax. Once he warmed up he became a very loving and happy guy who likes snuggles! He is still working on his social skills and can be distrustful of new people at times, but is getting better with strangers. He is not good with young children, but with older kids he might be ok. He has not really been tested with kids though, and he has not been around cats. Stetson knows how to use a doggy door and loves being outside. He walks well on a leash, but as with any stray, we prefer a home with a fenced yard. Stetson gets along well with other dogs but would also be fine as an only dog getting lots of love and attention. He likes to sleep cuddled up next to his foster dad in bed at night. Stetson does require a little warm up time and his adopter should be prepared to give him time to adjust to a new home, but he and his foster dad became close very quickly! Stetson has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. His neuter is scheduled at our vet soon and is covered by the rescue. Stetson is heartworm positive and has been started on treatment. That treatment is covered by the rescue, as well as his testing until he is heartworm free! Stetson is a good boy who deserves a loving forever home with someone who will take care of him for the rest of his life. If that's you please submit an adoption application for review.
