About Beau

Meet Beau, our handsome purebred Bluetick Coonhound! Beau is a big boy, weighing in at 90#, and he just turned 1 on February 18! We don't think he will grow much more...maybe just fill out a bit though. True to the Hound in him, Beau enjoys being outside sniffing out any and new scents that he can find. But he also loves his inside time just chillaxing. :) However, if he does not get enough exercise, stimulation, and/or attention, you will hear the famous Hound baying from him, so that you understand his displeasure. That being said, he should NOT go to an apartment or home without a fenced yard, that is close to neighbors. He is settling in more in his foster home and not baying nearly as much as he is getting used to the routines, but his potential adopter should still understand that he may do it at times, anyway. Why? Because that's what Hounds do! :) While he enjoys and needs a lot of time outside, he is not and will not be an outside dog, nor will he be left outside unattended or when someone isn't home. Beau has been great with all 9 of his foster brothers and sisters, ranging from 40 - 150#. We do not know how he would do with cats. He lived previously in a home with children and was great with them. He was surrendered because the family had to move to an apartment where they would not accept him. :( He is strong on a leash so will need some training there, but does know sit, shake, stay, and come. He is housetrained and crate trained. He is really just a big sweetheart who loves attention, but what dog doesn't? Beau has received all of his vaccines, has been microchipped, and neutered, and is ready to start his new life! He is being fostered in Sarasota and his adoption fee is $300.
