About Scout

Adoption Fee: $375
Plott
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Scout is an outgoing, affable, energetic, and playful 4-5-year-old, 60 pound, male Plott hound mix. This stately and handsome fellow was rescued from an animal control facility in rural Kentucky. Scout and two other dogs he lived with lost their home when their owner passed away. He first came to Pal's Place in June 2020, shortly after his original owner passed away. He was adopted quickly by a young couple in Chicago. His adopters adore him, but they lived in an apartment, and Scout would bark when left alone. The neighbors began to complain, and he was tearfully returned to Pal's Place for placement. He was again adopted in September 2020 but once again has returned to Pal's Place for placement. His third family said he did well over the winter months but when the weather started to become more pleasant, Scout would whine and cry to be let outside throughout the day, and when out in the yard, he has managed to escape a few times. They didn't feel like they could offer him enough outdoor time, and once again, Scout is looking for a family. This poor guy has already been through so much and bounced around more than any dog should be in his short life. We hope to find people for Scout who can really commit to him, give him all the time he needs to settle into a new environment, and truly offer him a forever home. He is a confident and friendly dog that will make a great friend for almost any hound lover/appreciator! Plotts are active and intelligent dogs that do best in homes that can provide lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Scout would be a great dog for someone looking for a running/biking/hiking companion to accompany them on outdoor adventures. Once he's had his daily exercise, he's happy to curl up on the couch with his people. Scout is crate trained but is trustworthy when left alone with free run of the home is not destructive. Like many hounds, though, Scout can be vocal at times and would do better in a single-family home with a securely fenced yard. An apartment or condo is not an ideal environment for him. Your close neighbors may not appreciate his beautiful baying! Hounds are also very social dogs and tend to do better in homes with other dogs. We'd love to find Scout a home with at least one other canine companion. Please schedule a visit with Scout today! He's anxious to meet his forever family. Scout's adoption fee is $375. This fee covers the cost of his neuter, vaccines, microchip, and initial de-worming.
