About SONNY (aka 'Sammie')

'SONNY' is a 4 yr old, 70 lb. Labrador Retriever male who was owner surrendered to the rescue due to a new baby. Sonny (formerly 'Sammie') is a smart, affectionate boy who likes his routines, prefers to be a house dog lounging on a dog bed or roaming around the yard, being 'outdoorsy' with his human. Sonny does not seem to understand 'fetch' or isn't interested. He knows basic commands. Sonny loves to cuddle, and will give kisses. He loves attention and can be both clumsy and dramatic in the silliest ways (ex. throwing himself down on his bed). Sonny seems to enjoy the company of dogs smaller than him. He has never been cat tested. He seems to thrive in a calm, quieter and steady home, so we recommend a home without children. Sonny is neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not do it's own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
