About Birdie

Birdie is half Great Pyrenees, 1/4 GS and 1/4 Husky. She (along with littermates) were left on our farm with a beautiful note from their mothers owner. He is elderly and his wife had severe dementia. He was heartbroken to leave them but knew they were going to a good home. We found wonderful homes for her brothers but kept her because she was our favorite of the litter. She is an absolutely wonderful dog with so many amazing qualities (super smart, super protective, and the best 'nanny' towards our children). She follows my 3 kids around like a shadow and has a soft spot for my 1yo who she has been raised with since birth. She has the patience of a saint and is super submissive with the children and sleeps with our two cats. She is the best watchdog, and keeps strangers at bay and although last year we lost half our chickens to foxes and eagles we haven't lost a single one this year because of her presence. She roams our 30acre property at night as well. I could go on and on about her qualities but to get to the main point of why we are rehoming her is because she has decided she wants to be alpha dog and has started being very aggressive toward our two other female dogs (6yrs and 8yrs). She will nip and bite at them randomly at times and they have become fearful and refuse to leave the garage. She however is quite submissive with other dogs when off our property (at park or on hikes) and we have never had any incidents between her being aggressive toward other dogs, just toward our older female dogs on our own farm. Sadly, We feel it is unfair to them in their older age to put them through the stress and general unrest they feel now and want birdie to find a forever home hopefully in the country with a gaggle of kids to call her own.
