About Willow

Adoption Fee: $350
American Staffordshire Terrier mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Hello! Back in August, I adopted the sweetest pitbull mix, Willow. Before I got her, she was in an incredibly abusive situation and was beaten and starved severely. When I saw her at the shelter, she was so scared that she wouldn't even look at me. It took her a couple of weeks before she started letting me pet her or started playing with toys, but now she is the BIGGEST snuggle bug! I've literally never met a dog as affectionate as she is. She'll lay on your lap for hours, jump on you for hugs, give you kisses in the morning, and is overall just wildly affectionate. But although she is very loving, because of her past, she also can be aggressive. It's absolutely born out of anxiety, and I've tried everything I can to help her with it. She's made a lot of progress, but still has a long ways to go. She's pretty afraid of men, and is very hesitant around strangers. But once she is comfortable with you, she is just begging for cuddles! The reason I'm re-homing her is because she has shown some signs of aggression that are beyond my skill set. She will often grab at people's pants or ankles as they walk by, and has gently bitten a few people out of fear. Never anything too intense, but it was a bite. I sent her to a 3-week boarding school to try and fix it, and again they made a lot of progress, but the behavior hasn't totally stopped. I also have two cats, and with one she is fine with, but my other cat is blind and is pretty freaked out by the dog. When she gets aggressive, Willow will get aggressive back and start growling. Besides that though, she does AMAZING with other dogs, and it's a requirement that she gets put in a home with another dog. She is VERY high energy and would play all day if she can, but she's also really good at settling down and laying on the couch while you binge watch Netflix. If she can just get over her anxiety and aggression issues, she would literally be the perfect dog. I love Willow so much and it is crushing me to let her go, but I know I can't give her the help she needs. She really needs an owner who is knowledgeable about pitbulls and has advanced training skills. She really needs structure. She LOVES to run, so a yard is also a requirement. She's a jumper and can be pretty rough with kids, so an older house hold would be best. She'll come with her large kennel, her nice bed, and food bowls. She definitely will not be going to just anyone. I wanna make sure she's set up for success and in the best possible position for her. If you think that might be you, shoot me a text and we can chat!
