Courtesy Posting: CHAPPY Baltimore Shelter, Baltimore, MD Chappy- 11 years, altered, male, 113lbs When you think 'senior dog'- Chappy's adorably sugar-dusted face should be what comes to mind. He's a squishy and gentle giant that really loves hotdogs and back scritches, simply put. I mean, when you're as large as Chappy and have lived as long as he has, it's the simple things in life that keep you going, like tasty snacks of course. It's even been reported that he's lived with kids of all ages, walks well on the leash, and knows basic commands, as well as being housebroken. While he should be snoozing away for the rest of his retirement in the comfort of a home, he's now waiting in a kennel, confused and wondering how he ended up here. He was surrendered into our care when the owner reported 'aggressive' behavior in the home, but since he's been in our care we've yet to see anything of the sort. He was even perfectly well-behaved during vaccines and a nail trim. The previous owner also reported resource guarding, though he has not shown any guarding behavior here at the shelter either. Upon examination, our vets noted that Chappy has lenticular sclerosis, mild dental tartar, a few small masses that will need to be removed, and a stiff gait as well. Hind end rads are recommended. A full medical summary can be provided upon request. No senior should spend their days in a shelter, especially not one as cute as Chappy! This man doesn't want to sit in a kennel, and we don't want him to either- he needs the comfiest, plushest bed for his achey bones. Chappy is available for rescue pick-up immediately, and due to his age, we would love to find placement ASAP. Please let us know if your organization can help!
