About Daisy

Daisy is a wonderful 7 year old Bluetick Coonhound/German Shorthaired Pointer mixed dog that unfortunately does not get along with young children, cats, or other dogs. For safety reasons and for quality of life concerns for the dog, I am looking to rehome her. Some back history about Daisy - we rescued her from the humane society about 6 years ago, we did not know it then, but we are pretty sure she had an undisclosed previous bite history with her former owners. My husband and I have both worked extensively with Daisy and a dog trainer to understand her quirks, and to recognize why she bites - and to eliminate her stressors. She is a hunting dog, so should not be around cats, she has possessive issues with specific types of dog bones (rawhide), and due to lack of proper socialization before we got her, she should not be in another household with other dogs/pets. In a single pet, no children household, she is extremely loyal and wants nothing more than a soft place to sleep and all of your cuddles. She really only 'bites' (no skin broken or bruising) when she is either a. startled, b. sleeping and then startled, c. stressed and no one is seeing that she needs a break, d. an unpredictable toddler/child that does not understand what the dog is communicating is annoying her. She rarely barks, and will do the hound bay rarely. She needs to go to a home that is willing to put in the time to give her the love she deserves.
