About Wendy

Foxhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Wendy was rescued from a kill shelter in April 2020. She was days away from being euthanized, she was found wandering the streets of Nash Co. eating garbage, 15 lbs underweight, heart worm positive, hookworm, severe ear infections in both ears and a skin infection. She didn't know how to walk on a leash, jump in a car or walk up stairs. A year later she is a total diva, she whines if she can't sleep in the bed and will turn her nose up at certain treats. She is super sweet and hasn't met a human or dog she doesn't like. It breaks my heart to let her go but my 83 year old mother lives lives with us, she has back problems and has just been diagnosed with Parkinson's. We have had a few close calls with Wendy almost knocking her over. All of Wendy's heath issues are totally cleared up Wendy can only be considered in a home with a fenced backyard and must sleep in the house. Sorry but those are non-negotiable. Wendy is spayed, up to date on all shots and microchipped. She is housebroken but will have accidents if she's left too long. She REFUSES to go in or near a crate so there must be some trauma associated. We had her DNA done she is a purebred American Foxhound. We will never know what her previous circumstances were but the shelter thinks she probably didn't 'hunt' so she was just dumped and left to fend for herself. She has some scarring and her tongue is ripped a little but we don't know if that's from her life on the streets or her previous owner,.
