About Sunny

Adoption Fee: $350
Chihuahua mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

To start the process to meet SUNNY, please fill out an adoption application. Meet and greets will be held in RIVERSIDE, CA https://pawsitivetailstoremember.forms-db.com/view.php?id=17980 SUNNY is 3 years old, she weighs 8 lbs, and is a tan and white female Chihuahua with a sweet but very shy face and personality. A little bit of history on Sunny's past life; she was surrendered in June by her owner for a bite incident to her owner's finger and her owner further claims that she was given to him as a gift and he was losing his home and could no longer keep her. Her shelter video was heartbreaking and you could see her visibly shaking in her kennel; they made her RESCUE ONLY and the rescue community rallied around to network her and we ultimately took a chance and pulled her. Sunny was with our foster, Lucille, who specializes in behavioral dogs and she brought her to the next stage where we moved her to our other foster, Ofra, for more socialization. Finally, Sunny was adopted'| but sadly returned within a few days, and came back to her first foster, Lucille. Sunny was adopted a second time 2 months ago and we just found out today that she is being returned once again to her foster, Lucille. We are re-listing her right away to avoid her getting too comfortable in her foster home again. If we keep her too long with Lucille, it will completely set her back. NOTE: Sunny has been able to settle in well into both of her foster homes who both have women/men in the home as well as other dogs and cats. Sunny has definitely suffered trauma/abuse in her young life and she will require a special adopter to give her time to heal and to learn to trust people again. We do not recommend any young children in the home and she must have a quiet environment; no other dogs please. Sunny's perfect adopter will be a single, retired woman with no other dogs. Sunny will urinate when you try to pick her up from fear. Sunny may never be a lap dog. We don't know what her future holds or how quickly someone will be able to gain her trust but we need someone willing to try. Someone who won't give up on her. Sunny Facts: *House trained - must be taken out on a schedule - suggest leaving harness on along with her leash *Still perfecting her leash training *Sunny is extremely shy, lacks confidence and she will need an adopter willing to work on her issues in a calm and quiet manner. Sunny will need to trust you first, but she has come a very long way from the absolutely terrified and shaking dog that we rescued. *Sunny is small dog and cat friendly *Sunny is microchipped, current on vaccines and is spayed *SUNNY'S PERFECT ADOPTER WILL BE A SINGLE, RETIRED WOMAN WITH NO OTHER DOGS. *Adopter should leave a soft harness and short leash attached to Sunny until the potty routine is established. *Adopter should avoid picking her up until Sunny trusts you Will you be Sunny's hero? Her forever mom?
