About Toby

Toby is looking for a new home. He is a loving boy who was rescued 1 year ago from a shelter in Romania and is currently in Berlin. He is a mixed breed but has the personality of a herding, shepherd, guard dog. He does not get along with strangers at all, and exhibits fear based aggression when strangers approach him that he does not trust or come into the home. He sadly learnt in his first year that he could react aggressively when threatened by people to protect himself. He has had several aggressive incidents and must wear a muzzle when not on private property. Nevertheless, Toby is a very joyful and playful 4-legged friend who shows absolute loyalty to his master. We are looking for a new home for him because he is an anxious dog and not suited to city life or an apartment. Therefore, he is looking for a quieter life outside the city centre with more space. Only to be given to experienced people! Here are some of Toby's best qualities: Toby loves playing with other dogs. He is very sociable and friendly and he would be even better in a house already with a dog. He is very independent, he doesn't have separation anxiety and is happy being left alone during working hours. He does not need constant supervision or attention. He is very loving and loyal to his owners. He loves a good scratch behind the ear or under the chin. Quite quiet and rarely barks at outdoor noises. However will bark when strangers are in his flat. Not a compulsive chewer. He doesn't jump up on people for attention. Low energy and maintenance indoors. House broken - Always pees and poos outdoors, no problems with house-training (needs 2 pee breaks per day). He forms strong bonds with people he trusts and puts up no resistance to washing, clipping his nails, removing a tick, or taking medicine. He has lots of energy and his favourite game is to run with other dogs in a friendly game of chase the leader. No major health issues or dietary restrictions. Castrated. 29kg weight. Vaccinated and microchipped. He is clever and very trainable, currently well trained with basic commands and lead training. Toby thrives in small dog group situations and we have found that he is destressed with a group dog walk with his friends. He doesn't like: Being pet by people he has not met in advance. He should not be in an apartment but a house with a garden or enclosed space. He is very cautious of strangers. He is stressed when strangers are in the flat and is reactive. He will then bark at them. Toby is a fantastic and charming dog. We are sad to see him go, but we want him to find a new home where he will be happy and loved.
