About Remmy

Adoption Fee: $30
American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Remmy is a 2.5 year old spayed American Staffordshire Terrier (Pitbull). Remmy is located in the Syracuse area and has been with us since she left her momma at about 7 weeks. Remmy is very affectionate, loves to cuddle with her humans, plays hard, and naps hard. Remmy is crate trained, house trained, knows her basic commands, and motivated by love and affection to please her humans. Remmy still has plenty of energy in her young age. She would be a fantastic dog for a family without children, or with children who are old enough to know not to climb on her or to tease her. Remmy loves playing with other dogs, as long as they don't try to make babies with her. She's not into the making babies thing... Remmy is skittish around cats and cautiously curious around caged animals. Remmy has an appointment for Monday (4/12) for her yearly exam and vaccines. Rabies is up to date until 2023. Covid has made Remmy a protective dog. She wants to make sure her humans are safe and others know her home is her home. She barks at unknown individuals passing by the house. Remmy has shown anxiety around the unpredictive nature of small children. She has nipped at our children as a puppy, which prompted us to hire a trainer to come into the home about 2 years ago. We learned her anxiety cues and what to do with her when the kids are hyperactive. We became too lax last week when our 3 year old threw a pillow at her while my husband showered and I was at work. She got up to leave the situation. She was walking upstairs to get away from him and to find my husband, and our child grabbed her from behind on the stairs. She turned around and told him to back off in the form of a bite on the face. We took him to the ER to have it cleaned and butterflied, which understandably resulted in a bite being filed with the Health Department. Remmy is a wonderful dog. She may take a little bit to warm up to some people, especially men who wear hats. But once she has warmed up to you, she loves hard and loves to please. We want so badly to see her find the best home for her without small children. Given her bite on record, it has proven to be incredibly difficult. We know our home is not the home for her. But we feel confident that there is a home for her, and we are PRAYING you can help us find that for her.
