About Maximus (Max)

Very well behaved senior dog. Max was purchased from a pet store as a hybrid breed (Maltese and chihuahua) in July of 2007. Max was born in May of 2007, he will be turning 14 this May! Max lived as the only dog with me and my daughter until 2018 when I had to move for work and left Max with my daughter and her father. December of 2020 Max and my daughter came to live with me again. This was unexpected and I already had another dog where I was living. The dogs don't always get along so we've been keeping them separated which means alot of unneeded time in their cages. Also, from 2018-2021 Max's vet visits were not kept up and he now has a stage 4 dental disease, (not really uncommon at his age tho) and a large tumor on his belly. The total cost to get the tumor removed and teeth cleaned was quoted around 1200-1300. Besides these two things and a raised enzyme in his blood work Max is in great health. He's very lazy and loves laying around in his cage. I'm looking for a new home because I can not keep up with both dogs any longer, Max was my daughter's dog and she REFUSES to take care of him. I feel it's unfair for Max to live his last few years like this and am looking for a loving person or family that has the ability and resources to care for a senior pet. His food needs mixed and senior dogs tend to need more trips to the vet and cost more money as well. As stated, Max has stage 4 dental disease and is in need of a deep cleaning asap. I would like to meet and see where and with whom Max's new home will be. He is house trained but could possibly take a minute to learn a new routine. He's crate and leash trained, honestly doesn't even really need a leash as he listens quite well.
