About Sophie J

My name is Sophie J and I am an American Bulldog. I am about 4 years old and have been through multiple owners in my short life. The one great home I found had to surrender me for medical reasons on her part. She had abdominal surgery and, with me wanting to be a lap dog at 100 pounds on anyone's lap, she could not risk over the long recovery she faced, of me injuring her. She was very sad about saying good-bye. I am spayed, current on my vaccinations, current on my heartworm prevention and flea protection, and housebroken. I have lost a little weight and look great. My great owner sent lots of notes along with me such as me liking to lay in the sunshine, not being crated much but being okay with it, if needed, great with cats, and loves walks on a leash. I am a very loving dog and love to please my guardian. I seem to have barrier issues from when I was younger and do not like baby gates and bark at people passing by my kennel door. I like only very small dogs. I would do better with older children because my size and high energy might cause me to knock over smaller children. I have a wonderful shelter volunteer who has been working with me and a local trainer to not jump up on people and walk better on a leash. I need a new person who loves big dogs and bulldogs especially, will continue working with my training and with knowledgeable trainer, and will make room on the couch for me next to them.
