About Benny

Benny is super sweet, but very timid. We found him malnourished and hiding in our bushes about 8 months ago. He slowly learned to trust us and we have tried to incorporate him into our family. Benny is a Vizsla mix and about 1 year old. He is house broken and crate trained. He is great with our male boxer (about 1.5 years). They play and wrestle often. Benny is dominate with dogs, but very timid with humans. He has become accustomed to our family, is great with our boys (ages 5, 7, and 10), but scared when we have guests over. We enjoy having Benny around very much. We cannot keep him, however, because he will not stay in our fence. We've made lots of effort to keep him fenced, but he consistently finds a way to dig out and run around the neighborhood, leading our other dog along. I can't allow him to keep running around the neighborhood. It has become a big problem with our neighbors. Given his timidity, we hate the idea of taking him to our local shelter. That will be our option if we cannot find him a home soon. We have only had him around our male dog, no females and no cats. He does not do well with a leash (but we have been working with him on this). The ideal home for Benny is a place with lots of land so he can run around and explore and a loving family that won't mind if Benny keeps his distance for a while. We recently had a couple weeks to spend with him without our other dog. He was so much more loving and playful during this time. I think he would enjoy the company of another canine companion, but would also do well as the only dog. He needs someone that will give him a little time to get comfortable and he'll be a super loving dog!
