Thank you for responding so quickly. I am probably out of my zone by reaching out to rescues as this is not my department for adoptions but I have bonded with this Rottie who is a crankly old man but loves to be petted and leans into you when you are rubbing him. He is confused, depressed and missing his dad who died and the wife is not comfortable around him because he growled at her ... he has of course growled on occasion at some of the animal caregivers but has his favorites that he just loves .... Altho not an animal caregiver I bonded with him because I have had 3 and love the breed .... I have walked him and fed him and given treats .... I would love to take him but I believe he needs to be in a one dog home to spend the rest of his life. He is 11. He was introduced to a dog at the shelter ... dog intro didn't go great ... meaning that he shyed away ... didn't try attacking or being vicious .. so I suggested a meeting with my dog .... who is half rottie/lab .... non aggressive mostly just kind of stood there and my dog was wanting to play and wagging tail ... she is 16 months. I believe the meet and greet went well considering -- Thank you. I am writing on my own .... not sure if I should .... but I as an old man he deserves to live his life however long that is being at peace. My older rottie passed at 12 last June. I will respond to texts ... emails ... messages on home phone when I get off from work in the evenings. He has hip discomfort on some days ... so ... being old .... in a strange place ... missing his dad..... in discomfort at times .... he's like a cranky older senior person. He's good with some people at the shelter and other's think fearful. He's great with me. I am reaching out on my own accord as I have nothing to do with adoptions, fostering, etc. I would like for someone who is familiar with the breed and understanding he is a real senior at eleven yrs old and has pain at times due to his hip but willing to work with him. Until I am sure that someone may be interested and quickly I don't want to divulge the name of the shelter as I work there and don't want to deal with privacy issues until I know that there is an interest.
